  • The oil must be hot because the funnel cake will become more quickly and easily. Too hot oil will make your cake brown from the outside and it will be raw from the inside. The oil mustn’t be too normal as the cake will absorb the oil and become more greasy and sticky.
  • The squeeze bottles are better than the funnel or piping bags. Clean your bottle and fill it with batter then it will make it squeeze better in proper shape.

  • Always use the metal thong or stainless steel spatula to flip and handle the cake while frying.
  • Use canola oil or vegetable oil for frying. It will not leave the unpleasant smoke of oil in your cakes.
  • After frying put the cakes on a paper towel so that they absorb the excess oil from your funnel cake.

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Whisk

  • 1 Squeeze bottle Funnel, piping bag


  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 3 tbsp Granulated Sugar (brown sugar can be used as optional)
  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 tsp green Cardamom powder
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for sprinkle (as required)


  • Pour enough oil into a large skillet and put it on the low-medium flame to heat. Place plates with paper towels on them and set them aside.
  • Take a bowl and add milk and eggs into it. Beat it for half a minute and then add vanilla extract, cinnamon powder, cardamom powder, and sugar. Now mix it well until thoroughly combined.
  • Mix all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder and mix it gently. Now put this mixture in the milk mixture and make a batter. Combine it well until there must be no lumps in the batter.
  • Take a squeeze bottle or piping bag and pour the batter into it. (You can use a funnel as well but I am using a squeeze bottle for my comfort). Place your squeeze bottle on the above inches of the skillet and start squeezing the batter into a circular or round shape. Make sure to drizzle the batter into a round shape for the perfect funnel cake shape.
  • Flip the cakes in between for about 1-2 minutes and fry them until golden brown. Take them out and put them on a paper towel when they are fully done.
  • Now you can serve the hot funnel cake by sprinkling powdered sugar on top. I am using hot fudge sauce over my funnel cake to make them more delicious and tasteful. You can use various toppings of your choice.
